    Stand with the Modern Whigs!

I’m not sure I completely understand, but it seems that this is the source of our bloated fund raising for campaigns. It would seem that more money is spent waging a campaign for an office than will ever be earned by the eventual office holder. This seem counter productive.

I support passage of the American Anti-Corruption Act -- model legislation designed as a standard for action to blunt the corrupting effect of political contributions at the the local, state and federal level.

I believe lobbying and ethics laws must be reformed; political fundraising must be transparent and donors must be publicly disclosed; and a system of citizen-funded elections must be installed.

I endorse all efforts to reverse the Supreme Court's decisions in the Citizens United and McCutcheon cases, and pledge to do all I can as a citizen to return control of my government to the hands of The People.

The Modern Whig Institute does not accept donations from corporations, unions, or special interest groups.

We are funded directly by volunteers and grassroots supporters. Please consider a small contribution today!

My remarks were flagged for not being civil. I don’t know why. Please tell me what was offensive. Thank you.

It is time to eliminate the income tax. I propose that we adopt the “fair Tax” on spending. But because switching from one system to another would in fact cause double taxation (income then spending). To get out of this trap, I suggest that the income tax be continued for the very rich for a short period of time to provide the necessary funds to operate the government. This is unfair to the rich, but will allow us to escape within say 10 years from the tax on income. We should then eliminate the estate tax, hopefully, in time to save the family farm and other small businesses.
