It's Time for Government That Works

I’ve been a member of the Modern Whig Party for only a few weeks, but I’ve been thinking like a Whig for many decades, long before the MWP was formed. And one of the reasons comes down to my unstinting admiration for Henry Clay, both as a Congressman and as a Secretary of State.

I admired Clay many years ago when I served briefly as an aide to Senator Henry M. Jackson (D, WA) and I still admired him more than twenty years later when I worked for Colin Powell when he served as a Republican Secretary of State.

The Modern Whig Party Responds to Dallas and Baton Rouge

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the slain officers in Baton Rouge and Dallas.  Their assassinations were heinous acts of terrorism. We mourn for the fallen who sacrificed their lives protecting us.

A Time to Serve

Perhaps no value ranks higher in the mind of a Modern Whig than the commitment to authentic public service. And, as a party founded by veterans, that commitment to service probably finds no higher expression than our desire to do all we can for those who have served, or are currently serving, our country in the armed forces. Today, on Memorial Day 2015, we are proud to announce our Veterans Volunteer Initiative -- the first phase in an ongoing process to make that desire a reality.
