Concerned centrist committed to social progress and conserving personal liberties.

I believe in a compromise-based government which does not shy away from discourse of the difficult situations. I seek answers and solutions instead of plots and excuses. I want to see an American party come to power that actually represents the people that elected them, and not the corporations that funded them. I believe in the words of the founding fathers, and the purpose of our government not as a controlling entity, but a protecting entity.

Q: How often do you vote?
    A: Every election, every year.

    How often do you vote?

Are you a cafeteria voter? Do you pick and chose what to vote in? Or do you vote in everything from county dog catcher to President of the United States?

Q: Please tell us a brief example of what position you would have us take?
A: Being a centrist, free-thinking party should have some form of articulation on the aversion to polarization. Being a haven for the middle, and outlet for discourse, is something’s that should spur on the MWP to higher planes of debate. To fully articulate I’d suggest the something along the lines of the following.

The MWP stands against political polarization. The extreme black and white perspectives presented by majority thinkers leads to a divisive battlefield in the government. The taking on of these positions as identity has discouraged debate and promoted the representation of the elite. In the empowering of the free-thinking citizenry, the MWP stands for beneficial discourse and reason for the purpose of protecting the rights of the individuals the government is supposed to represent.

Q: Please explain your answer here.
A: In the role of leadership, the options chosen are all throng and each have their place, but the one universal trait that affects, and should be present, in all leaders is integrity. From a firm foundation of integrity the other traits can firmly stay in place so the politician remains transparent in all thought and action.

    Traits of a Leader

Whether a candidate is running for City Council, Mayor, State Legislature, Governor, Congress or President there are some traits or qualifications we look for as a society.  As Whigs, what are the traits that you look for in a candidate for any of these offices?

I support passage of the American Anti-Corruption Act -- model legislation designed as a standard for action to blunt the corrupting effect of political contributions at the the local, state and federal level.

I believe lobbying and ethics laws must be reformed; political fundraising must be transparent and donors must be publicly disclosed; and a system of citizen-funded elections must be installed.

I endorse all efforts to reverse the Supreme Court's decisions in the Citizens United and McCutcheon cases, and pledge to do all I can as a citizen to return control of my government to the hands of The People.

The Modern Whig Party of America does not accept donations from corporations, unions, or special interest groups.

We are funded directly by volunteers and grassroots supporters. Please consider a small contribution today!
